Coronavirus cases in Pakistan cross grim 150,000 mark

ISLAMABAD: The number of infections from the novel coronavirus have surpassed the grim landmark of 150,000 cases in the country.
The country recorded 5,839 new coronavirus cases over the last twenty-four hours, taking the total tally to 154,760.
This includes 58,239 cases in Punjab and 57,868 in Sindh. Both the largest provinces have surpassed the 50,000 mark although the recovery rate in Sindh is higher in Punjab which implies that the province has few active cases.
There are 19,107 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 8,437 in Balochistan, 9,242 in Islamabad, 1,164 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 703 in Azad Kashmir.
The death toll from the virus stands at 2,975 with 136 deaths reported over the last twenty-four hours. This is the highest single-day spike in death toll from the coronavirus. The total death toll from the virus stands at 2,975.
Meanhiles, 28,117 coronavirus tests were carried out during this period. 58,437 patients have so far recovered from the disease.
The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surpassed 82,50,587 while the pandemic has so far claimed more than 445,185 lives.
The United States tops with 22,07,799 cases and more than 1,19,129 deaths. Brazil with over 928,798 cases and more than 45,456 deaths is the second badly hit by the virus.
More than four million patients have so far recovered from the disease across the world. This include 58,239 cases in Punjab and 57,868 in Sindh.
