In a remarkable event, copies of the Holy Quran were found safe as rescue teams combed through the charred structure, recovering bodies from the smoldering debris of the commercial complex.
On Saturday, a massive fire broke out at Karachi’s Gul Plaza, killing at least 26 people, while 65 others remained missing as rescue operations continued.
A video appeared on social media shows copies of the Holy Quran were found completely unharmed by the fire in the smoke-filled mosque on the plaza’s first floor.

Rescue officials confirmed, “The mosque on the first floor has been cleared, and no person was found inside,” adding that the mosque itself remained undamaged in the blaze.
It should be noted that while the fire at the mall located on M.A Jinnah Road was said to be doused after more than 24 hours on Sunday, firefighting efforts had to resume on Monday as flames reignited from the smoldering debris.
Meanwhile, authorities have ordered a formal investigation into the incident. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi announced that an inquiry committee, led by his office, will hold its first meeting on Tuesday to examine the causes and circumstances of the fire.
