Crime is on the rise across the country and the incidents of terrorism, murder, street crimes are creating a worrying situation for the masses.
The recent news of the charred body of an 8-year-old child in Lahore, and the dismemberment of another person in a bag in Karachi are not only disturbing but also highlight the rising crime rate in Pakistan.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has been facing a rising tide of crime in recent years. In January 2023, a woman was murdered in Islamabad, and her body was found in a park. In December 2022, a person was shot dead in Peshawar over a minor dispute. In November 2022, a youth was abducted and killed in Quetta and in October 2022, a family was attacked in Lahore, resulting in the death of two children and their parents.
Such crimes are not only heinous but also a source of fear and anxiety for the citizens of Pakistan. It is the responsibility of the government to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of its citizens. The government needs to work on improving the justice system so that criminals can be brought to justice as soon as possible.
Investigation and prosecution of cases should be conducted in a transparent and efficient manner and ensure that no hurdle is left in the pursuit of justice. In addition, more investment is needed in law enforcement agencies, including the provision of modern equipment and training for personnel.
The police force must be better equipped to deal with the changing nature of the crime, including cybercrime, and must have the necessary resources to deal with organized crime groups. The government should also work to improve the socioeconomic conditions in the country.
Poverty, unemployment and lack of education are often the main causes of crime. By addressing these issues, the government can reduce the incidence of crime in the long run.
Greater public awareness and participation are needed to prevent mass crime. Citizens should be encouraged to report suspicious activities to the police and the government should work to build trust between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
Government and law enforcement agencies must take immediate action to tackle these crimes and ensure the safety of citizens, including long-term and short-term measures that need to be addressed.
It is important to state that the government should invest in law enforcement to improve the justice system, address socio-economic issues and increase public awareness and participation in crime prevention. Only then can we hope for a safe and prosperous Pakistan in the future?
