Sindh and federal govt at odds over Murtaza Wahab’s new appointment

KARACHI: Preparations are underway to appoint Sindh government spokesman Barrister Murtaza Wahab as Administrator Karachi.

According to details, the news of the appointment of Sindh government spokesman Barrister Murtaza Wahab as Administrator Karachi came to light yesterday on which Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that Murtaza Wahab is capable of working as an administrator.

Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that if Murtaza Wahab is appointed as Administrator Karachi, it would be a very welcome decision of the Sindh government. However, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has strongly opposed the appointment of Murtaza Wahab as Administrator Karachi.

On the other hand, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that it was agreed between the federation and the provincial government that Administrator Karachi would not be a political figure. Regarding the appointment of Murtaza Wahab as Administrator,  Governor Sindh further said that we will go to the courts against this appointment.

Earlier, Sindh Assemblymember and President PTI Karachi Khurram Sher Zaman also strongly opposed the appointment of Murtaza Wahab as Administrator Karachi. President PTI Karachi Khurram Sher Zaman said that the Sindh government is appointing Murtaza Wahab as administrator to assume federal development funds.  

The President of PTI Karachi Division said that it should be informed on the basis of which experience is Murtaza Wahab being appointed as Administrator Karachi. The Sindh government is preparing an army of Jails in KMC, he said.
