Commissioner Karachi makes face masks mandatory before going out
KARACHI: In an order to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani has made face masks mandatory before going out.
Commissioner Office issued a notification today (Saturday) in this regard. The notification stated all the activities permitted will take place under certain guidelines in pursuance of the directives issued by the Sindh home department.
The notification stated, “Face masks are mandatory for all the people coming out of their houses for a valid reason or those who are exempted from the lockdown,” adding that the face masks shall cover the nose, mouth, and chin.
It further stated that sanitising and cleaning hands would be strictly ensured after every activity. “Every employee or worker has to be examined before entering the workplace,” it added.
“If symptoms of flu, cough or fever are found, he/she may be referred to the hospital immediately and not allowed to enter the workplace,” the notification read.
The notification also stated that the workplaces were supposed to be disinfected frequently. “Social distancing will be ensured at every workplace,” it added.
According to the notification, the biometric machines were mandatorily supposed to be disinfected after every use. “The businesses will be permitted to operate as per the timings specified by the home department,” the notification read.
Additionally, the restaurants and hotels have been allowed to remain open only for home deliveries from 8 am to 5 pm. “Dining in of any sort is not allowed,” the notification said.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has decided to completely close the areas of Karachi from where coronavirus cases are being reported in huge numbers.
