Karachi is experiencing cold, dry weather with mild fog in the early morning and nighttime, according to the Met Office’s weather report.
Temperatures are expected to stay moderate during the day, while cold and dry conditions will persist over the next 24 hours. Yesterday, the city’s daytime temperature was recorded at 25.4°C, with a minimum of 13.5°C.
At specific locations, the minimum temperatures were: 13.2°C at Jinnah Terminal, 13.5°C at Gulistan-e-Johar, 14°C at Shahrah-e-Faisal, and 13.5°C each at Mauripur and Bin Qasim. The maximum temperature today is forecast to reach 26-28°C, the Met Office said.
Winds are blowing from the northeastern direction at a speed of 12 km/h. The humidity level in Karachi was recorded at 31% this morning, the Met Office added.
From December to February, Karachi typically experiences cool and dry weather with mild to moderate temperatures. During this period, the city often enjoys pleasant conditions, with daytime temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C, while nighttime temperatures can drop to 10°C to 15°C.
There is occasional fog in the early mornings and late evenings, but rain is rare during these months. The cooler weather is primarily due to the influence of the winter winds, which blow from the northeast, bringing dry and cool air from Central Asia.
These winds, combined with the geographical location of Karachi near the Arabian Sea, help maintain relatively mild temperatures throughout the winter months. The city’s coastal location also contributes to more stable weather conditions, limiting temperature fluctuations.
