RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said that Pak-Iran cooperation is vital for peace and stability in the region.
The army chief met with the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Major General Mohammad Bagheri who called on COAS General Bajwa accompanied by a high-level delegation at the GHQ, said ISPR.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Iranian CGS was presented Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army on arrival.
The visiting dignitary laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and prayed for the Martyrs of Pakistan. Later, the Iranian CGS held a meeting with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
During the meeting, a wide range of issues including the Afghanistan situation, regional security and border management particularly fencing along Pak-Iran Border were discussed.
