ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa hosted a farewell dinner in honour of the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing in Islamabad.
The army chief thanked the ambassador for his services and appreciated his contributions for fostering strong ties between Pakistan and China, support towards defence and security cooperation, handling of COVID-19 pandemic and stance on Kashmir.
During the interaction, matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral cooperation came under discussion. The outgoing Chinese ambassador appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan’s positive role in the region and pledged to play his role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
Later on, the Chinese ambassador also made a farewell call on the Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh at the Finance Division.
The adviser appreciated the commitment with which Mr Jing worked for the progress of the Pak-China relationship. He acknowledged the contributions of the envoy and China’s leadership for Pakistan and hoped that his predecessor will work on the same lines.
Ambassador Jing thanked the adviser for his support and expressed desire to further strengthen the two country’s relationship. He said that CPEC project is an inspiration for the rest of the world.
The ambassador also appreciated the strategy adopted by the government of Pakistan during the COVID-19 crisis and said that the rest of the world could follow and learn from Pakistan’s experience. He expressed confidence that FATF’s October review will go well for Pakistan.
The finance adviser presented a shield to the outgoing ambassador as a token acknowledgement for his valuable services and said that his successor will be welcomed with the same spirit.gen
