THAR: Coal deposits found in Thar Coal Block-1, which is part of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (CPEC), Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Monday.
According to Deputy CEO Sino Sindh Resources Company, the coal was discovered after completion of 145 meters of excavation. “The annual production of coal will be 9 billion tons in the first phase,” the official added.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah congratulated the citizens on the discovery of coal and said it was the second major achievement of the Sindh government as per the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
The chief minister further said that Thar Coal Field Block-1 has 3 billion tons of coal reserves which equals to 5 billion barrels of crude oil. “Our slogan – Thar will change Pakistan – is becoming reality,” he said, also congratulating the Chinese company on their success.
