LAHORE: An accountability court has accepted an exemption plea of former premier Nawaz Sharif in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills on the medical grounds.
During the hearing, the lawyer of Nawaz Sharif, Amjad Pervez pleaded the court to grant immunity to Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds. He submitted Nawaz’s medical reports too.
The lawyer notified the court that Nawaz Sharif’s condition was still unclear and in this regard, he was being treated at the hospital.
He also informed that there were some check-ups of Nawaz Sharif that were due in the upcoming week of February, adding that because of that he was unable to travel due to ongoing medical treatment.
This is not the first time, the court has granted an exemption to him in the same case. Nawaz Sharif was last month given immunity in the same case by the accountability court.
AC Judge Amjad Nazir pronounced the decision. Nawaz Sharif has been staying in London since November 2019 for the medical treatments.
He was earlier granted immunity by the accountability court for 14 days in the same case again.
On 29th October 2019, he was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on medical grounds in Al-Azizia case for eight weeks. He along with his family has been accused of using the Chaudhry Sugar Mills for money-laundering and illegal transfer of its shares.
