ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Water Board (WB) director, Iqbal Shahid has allegedly involved in corruption by illegally handing over an illegal separate main water line to United States consulate.
According to details, CDA WB director Iqbal Shahid has allegedly received Rs. 30 million from US Consulate in order to give permission for a separate main water line.
Sources have informed that the US Consulate had requested for a separate water line from the capital’s main pipeline so that their water requirement could be met. The CDA WB director demanded Rs 30 million in this regard.
However, the sources further informed that Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz had rejected the file of this case, saying it was illegal and dismissed the case. Iqbal Shahid flouted the orders and handed over the separate line illegally.
It is worth mentioning here that water shortage has intensified in the city and citizens are forced to pay Rs 3,000 per tanker.
