KARACHI: Karachi police have released CCTV footage of the high-risk operation conducted at the residence of Armaghan Qureshi, the main suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case.
The footage shows the intense moments of the raid, where DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar and another officer sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
According to the footage, Armaghan Qureshi is seen expertly handling an automatic weapon, identified as an M4 rifle, with a torch affixed to the barrel. He fired at police twice before retreating into a room.
Disturbingly, the suspect was seen roaming inside his house unclothed at the time of the raid on February 8, a detail also captured in the surveillance video.
The video shows police officers entering different sections of the house while Qureshi continued to fire from the upper floor. As a result of his gunfire, DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar and a police constable were injured.
In a dramatic scene, the injured officers are seen dragging themselves out of the house to safety. The footage also reveals how the police mobile rammed into the gate of the bungalow to force entry.
As officers reached the staircase inside, the suspect opened fire once again, leading to the injuries.
Authorities say that releasing this footage is part of the transparency process and to showcase the dangers law enforcement faces while bringing dangerous fugitives to justice.
