ISLAMABAD: Car sales have recorded a 54 percent decline on an annual basis, during the first 10 months of the financial year.
According to the data released by the Pakistan Auto Manufacturers Association, the country recorded sales of 88,620 units of passenger cars in the period from July to April, which is 54 percent less than the same period of the previous fiscal year. In the same period of the last financial year, sales of 191238 units of cars were recorded.
Sales of 2,844 units of cars were recorded in April, which is 61 percent less than in March and 95 percent less than in April last year. Car sales in the country were recorded at 7201 units in March and 18626 units in April last year.
According to the statistics, in the first 10 months of the current financial year, 41,497 units of cars with power of 1300 cc and above were recorded, which is 51 percent less than the same period of the previous financial year.

In the same period of last financial year, sales of 1000 cc and above cars were recorded at 84396 units. Similarly, in the same period, the sale of 11531 units of 1000 cc-power cars was recorded, which is 70 percent less than the same period of the previous financial year. In the same period of the previous financial year, sales of cars up to 1000 cc units were recorded at 38170 units.
The statistics revealed that in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, sales of 35,592 units of cars of less than 1,000 cc-power were recorded, which is 48 percent less than the same period of the previous fiscal year. In the same period of the previous financial year, sales of cars of less than 800 cc-power were recorded at 68678 units.
