PTI candidates contested the polls as independent candidates after being stripped of their symbolic bat symbol by the ECP.

The PTI has not yet held new elections as per ECP directions. Some law experts believe that the PTI as a party stands and is still registered with ECP, while some are of view that the independent candidates cannot join the PTI and would have to join any other political party after the announcement of results as per the law.
According to unofficial results, independent candidates (a majority of whom are backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) are leading in most of the national and provincial constituencies across the country followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is on third place.
The next days till the formation of new government will be very crucial as that will determine the future of the PTI-backed independent candidates.
