KARACHI: After Liaquatabad and Gulberg, Jamshed Town area has become the hub of illegal constructions and encroachments.
Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Deputy Director Ali Asad had allowed illegal construction and approved the map on Plot No. 11/2 located in the famous Soldier Bazaar after allegedly receiving hefty underhand payments from a builder named Umair who has started booking on the flats being sold between Rs3-5 million.
The building’s design is in violation of the bylaws as a 16-foot cover has been built while a 5-foot long canopy has been protruding over the street. Two flats have already been constructed flouting all relevant rules and regulations.
It may be mentioned that the construction has been declared and demolished in the past. However, these continue under the patronage of Ali Asad who remains beyond the reach of law enforcement agencies and has converted the area into a concrete jungle.
More than a dozen illegal construction are underway in Jamshed Town area after received permission from Ali Asad. This is also affecting the infrastructure and civic amenities in the area.
