Bangladeshi model and television actress Ridhika Ridhi was found dead at her rented apartment in Dhaka’s Bashundhara residential area on Saturday, with police arresting her boyfriend in a case of alleged abetment of suicide.
Police recovered Ridhi’s body from the apartment after being informed of the incident at around 6am.
Her mother later filed a case naming Hasibur Rahman as the sole accused, following which police arrested him and produced him before a court.
According to initial police information, investigators suspect Ridhi may have died by suicide following an argument with her partner during a video call.
The circumstances surrounding her death are being investigated.
Ridhi, whose real name was reportedly Lina Akhter, was 26. She entered Bangladesh’s entertainment industry as a model before moving into television dramas, where she gained popularity among viewers.
She was known for appearing in several television productions, including Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy, Bohurupi, Double Honeymoon and Shundor.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances leading up to Ridhi’s death, while the allegations against Rahman remain subject to the ongoing legal process.
