KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has rejected the recent increase in prices of petroleum products and termed it as oppression on the people.
In a statement issued from Bilawal House, the PPP chairman said that the people were burning in the fire of historic inflation and further increase in petrol prices was tantamount to fanning the flames.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that taxes and duties on petroleum products are an important source of revenue for the PTI government.
In Imran Khan’s government, the people have longed for relief and to hear any good news, Bilawal said and added that looting is going on in the country and benefit was given only to ATMs.
Advising Imran Khan, Bilawal said that another U-turn should be taken in the wider national interest, Imran Khan should turn his policies 180 degrees.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that increase in prices of petrol products and additional taxes and levies should be withdrawn without delay.
The PPP chairman said that increase in prices of petroleum products was tantamount to snatching food from the mouths of the poor.
It should be noted that the government has increased the prices of petrol by Rs4 per litre “due to an increase in petroleum prices in the international market”.
After the increase, petrol has reached its historic high price of Rs127.30 per litre. High-speed diesel, with an increase of Rs2, costs Rs122.04 per litre while kerosene oil costs Rs7.05 more and is priced at Rs99.31 per litre, while light diesel oil was increased by Rs8.82 to and will cost Rs99.51 per litre.
