Pakistanis being fed up with a typical image of Pakistani Muslims in Bollywood movies is one thing and Pakistanis still choosing to watch such anti-national movies is another issue.
An anti-national movie ‘Fighter’ is the latest example of such a situation. It was January 2024 when all Pakistani celebrities expressed disappointment over Fighter’s newly released trailer and opined that the Indian filmmakers should be aware of the cinema’s power and still choose to feed the audience the riff between the two countries.
Well, remember Mission Majnu’s stereotyped Pakistanis with kohled eyes and constant use of ‘adaabs’, and ‘taweez’ with a topic on top of the head all the time. This time too, a kohled eye Pakistanis constantly saying ‘adaab’ and ‘janaab’ were being portrayed in Fighter.
Moreover, the level of hate came with some inflammatory dialogues where the characters are shown attempting to show Pakistan its place via dialogues such as ‘baap kaun hai’, ‘Malik Hum Hain’, and ‘India occupied Pakistan’, etc.
The aerial action film Fighter is about a very important mission carried out by a team of Air Force aviators to stop a terrorist threat from Pakistan. As we know Bollywood movies are banned in Pakistan yet anti-national films trend on Netflix.
The point is not the portrayal as we as a nation are already fed up with the attire or portrayal of Pakistanis shown in Bollywood movies. The sad reality is that propaganda-based movies that are made totally against Pakistan are trending in Pakistan.
