Pakistan’s star batter and the captain of Peshawar Zalmi Babar Azam has hit rocked bottom as his poor form drew massive backlash from critics as well as concerns from his fans and well-wishers alike.
Babar Azam’s form has been a bit of a head-scratcher lately, with just 3 runs in the first three matches of this PSL season.
It’s not exactly what you’d expect from a player of his caliber, and it’s definitely something Peshawar Zalmi fans are keeping an eye on. But hey, cricket’s a funny game, and even the best have their off days.
Despite Babar’s struggles, Zalmi pulled off a massive win against Multan Sultans, crushing them by 120 runs. Tom Kohler-Cadmore smashed a solid half-century, and Ali Raza’s fiery four-wicket haul sealed the deal. It was a much-needed boost for the team, and fans are crossing their fingers for Babar to bounce back and lead Zalmi to more victories.
It’s been almost two years since Babar’s last international century—his last one came against Nepal in August 2023. While the big scores have been elusive, he’s managed to chip in with some fifties across formats, keeping the hope alive for his supporters.
As they say, form is temporary, but class is permanent. And with 569 runs in the previous PSL season, there’s no doubt Babar has the class to turn things around.
Speaking of turning things around, Zalmi’s next game is against Karachi Kings tonight at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The match kicks off at 8:00 PM local time, and it’s shaping up to be a cracker. Here’s hoping Babar finds his groove and lights up the game.
