LAHORE: The brother of former PTI focal person Azhar Mashwani has returned home after being allegedly missing for over four months.
In a post on X, Azhar Mashwani said his brother Professor Zahoor Mashwani has returned home after missing for 144 days. He thanked everyone for their prayers and support.
Earlier this month, Azhar Mashwani said he was abducted on 23 March and illegally detained for 8 days for which the FIR has not even reached the stage of investigation.
Similarly, on the night of May 9, he said three raids were conducted at their house and his 73-year-old father and elder brother Professor Zahoor Mashwani were abducted by people dressed in CTD uniform and plain clothes.
On the third day, Azhar said his father was released due to being unwell but now the fifth month has started and there is no trace of my brother- He said Professor Zahoor Mashwani has educated thousands of children and to date and has nothing to do with practical or protest politics.
Considering these circumstances and to reduce the hardships of my family, Azhar said he had to leave home, did not even use social media for the last two months and had to leave Pakistan
He criticized the role of the judiciary and said that four petitions filed by his father in the Lahore High Court were disposed off and no order was given for the recovery of the abductee.
According to the reports submitted repeatedly by all institutions in the High Court since March till now, he said neither he or any family member is named or wanted in any case.
He said his family is a law-abiding family that has always followed the Constitution and has been associated with the field of teaching for years. “We have always been loyal to the soil of Pakistan and perhaps this is our crime, the punishment of which every member of our family is suffering,” he added.

Earlier this year in March, PTI leader Azhar Mashwani returned home more than a week after being picked up. “Alhumdullilah I have just returned home safe and sound,” Mashwani tweeted. “Your prayers, efforts, and support in these eight days have left us forever indebted.”
Mashwani added that he prayed that other “captive workers” also return home soon and get to break their fasts with their families.
The Lahore High Court ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to recover and produce Mashwani in court. Justice Aalia Neelum had passed the order on a petition filed by Mazharul Hassan, Mashwani’s brother.
He was picked apparently on charges of criticising the Punjab police and the caretaker government for allegedly using high-handed tactics against party workers. Mashwani was a former focal person for digital media in Punjab PTI.
The development comes days after famous journalist Imran Riaz Khan returned home after being missing for 124 days. Sialkot Police had confirmed that Imran Riaz Khan had returned safely home. His lawyer Mian Ashfaq Ali shared his picture after his release.
