ISLAMABAD: A larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear the petitions filed
against the formation of a judicial inquiry commission probing the audio leaks allegedly involving current and former members of the superior judiciary and their family members.
A five-member larger bench chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial will hold a hearing today at 11:00 am. The bench will include Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Shahid Waheed, and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi.
It should be remembered that President Supreme Court Bar Abid Zubiri and others have challenged the summoning notice of the audio leaks commission and requested the Supreme Court to declare the proceedings and orders of the audio leaks inquiry commission as unconstitutional and illegal.

The Audio Leaks Commission summoned four big personalities associated with audio on May 27. The Commission has summoned former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib, President Supreme Court Bar Abid Zuberi, Senior Advocate Tariq Rahim, and the journalist who spoke to the senior lawyer in the alleged audios.
It should be noted that the federal government has formed a 3-member judicial commission on the issue of audio leaks. The commission headed by the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, includes the Chief Justices of Balochistan High Court and Islamabad High Court.
