KARACHI: An accountability court on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and twelve others including his family members in assets beyond means case.
The court asked the investigating officer the steps which have been taken against the accused and whether they had been served notices, to which the officer responded in the affirmative. The proceedings were adjourned till Oct 22.
The NAB investigating officer told the court, that Durrani’s frontman and others were declared absconders, while travel records showed Durrani’s family has traveled to the United States.
The court also ordered the CNIC cards of all absconders to be blocked and their arrest warrants issued. Durrani’s wife Naheed Durrani, his son Agha Shahbaz Durrani and four daughters are among the twelve suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued.
The NAB investigating officer also submitted the report in the court which named Mohammad Irfan, Syed Mohammad Shah, Gul Bahar, Lohar Baloch, Shakeel Ahmed Soomro, Ghulam Murtaza, and Munawar Ali as accused.
NAB arrested Agha Siraj Durrani from Islamabad on February 20 this year for an investigation regarding own assets beyond known sources of income.
