As Eidul Azha approaches, the bustling livestock market on the Northern Bypass has come to life, expecting a record-breaking 800,000 animals this year. Spread over a sprawling 1,000-acre area, the market has already welcomed 50,000 animals, with traders eagerly setting up their stalls.
The cattle market administration anticipates a record-breaking arrival of 800,000 animals this year. Organized into sixteen blocks, including VIP and general sections, the market, the largest in Asia, aims to efficiently accommodate the large influx of livestock and facilitate traders and buyers.
Authorities have announced a new fee structure and rate list for acquiring plots in the Karachi cattle market. Plots are divided into three categories – VVIP, VIP, and General Blocks – to streamline operations and meet the various needs of cattle farmers and traders.
The newly introduced VVIP block, named Rahim Yar Khan Block, offers large animal stalls at a fixed price of Rs 200,000 per plot. The VIP block comprises two categories, Golden and Sapphire, with plot prices set at Rs 150,000 each.
The General Block, consisting of eight blocks named after different regions, will not incur plot fees. However, animal fees will be charged, amounting to Rs 4,250 per cow, bull, or camel and Rs 2,000 per goat.
Authorities have ensured adequate facilities for animals, promising to provide 30 liters of water per animal in the cattle market. Additionally, a specialized market for goats has been established with VVIP and VIP categories, offering plots at Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
