A daring armed robbery took place at a private bank located on Manghopir Road in the Pirabad area of Orangi Town, police officials confirmed on Monday.
According to SSP West Tariq Ilahi Mastoi, three armed suspects entered the bank while two accomplices remained outside.
The suspects overpowered the security guard, snatching his pistol and rifle, before looting cash from the bank counter. The exact amount stolen is yet to be determined.
After committing the robbery, the suspects locked the bank’s main entrance from the outside using a motorcycle lock and fled the scene, creating panic among staff and customers inside.
Senior police officials, including SSP West, reached the site shortly after the incident, while a team from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) also arrived to assist in the probe.
The crime scene unit has collected evidence and recorded initial statements from witnesses.
Taking serious notice of the incident, Inspector General of Sindh Javed Alam Odho has sought a detailed report from the Additional IG Karachi.
He has directed authorities to ensure a thorough investigation from all angles and ordered the immediate arrest of those involved.
