ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has said federal minister Ali Zaidi has acted irresponsibly by making the Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report on Lyari gangwar kingpin Uzair Baloch controversial.
Speaking to the media after his appearance at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the chief minister questioned the authenticity of the ‘original’ report by Zaidi and alleged said that the federal minister was favouring the gangster.
He said the Sindh government did not make the JIT report public because releasing them would compromise the arrest of the absconders named in the reports. He said the criminals were on the run after being named in the investigation report.
The chief minister added the Sindh government released the report because they were under too much pressure. “Ali Zaidi showed irresponsibility. I don’t know where he got the report from,” he said.
He claimed Ali Zaidi went public with a copy of the JIT that did not have the signatures of officials part of the investigation team. He said the report that the provincial government released has the signatures of all JIT members.
“If Ali Zaidi can tell us, then the media would not have published the JIT. Someone comes at night and hand him [Ali Zaidi] a piece of paper on a motorcycle and the next day he starts telling everyone about it.”
The chief minister said the federal minister should have verified the authenticity of the report given to him before making it public.
“If Ali Zaidi’s statement helps the accused or destroys the case then there will be legal repercussions,” he said.
