In a joint and major operation in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, the inter-state intelligence and law enforcement agencies have foiled a major sabotage plan by arresting five alleged operatives associated with the Indian intelligence agency ‘RAW’.
Reports said that the law enforcement agencies, on receiving a tip-off, conducted a highly targeted operation in the ‘Chahla’ area of Muzaffarabad, during which the five accused were taken into custody.
Laptops, mobile phones, and other communication devices were initially recovered from the possession of the arrested accused, and the initial investigation revealed sensitive material and suspicious contacts.
During the investigation, a large cache of weapons was recovered on the identification of one of the accused, which included 7 automatic weapons, several grenades, and other war materials.
Reports further said that maps of highly sensitive locations in Azad Kashmir, installations and documents and records of alleged attack plans have also been recovered from the possession of the accused.
Sources said that concrete evidence of alleged contacts with enemy intelligence agencies has been made part of the investigation, while forensic and technical analysis of recovered mobile phones and laptops is being done.
Investigators are probing to arrest possible facilitators, sources of financial support (tailor funding) and other members of this network.
