An accountability court in Islamabad has once again delayed its verdict in the £190 million reference involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, local media reported on Sunday.
According to Aaj News, the decision, initially reserved on December 18, will not be announced tomorrow as previously scheduled.
This marks the third time the announcement date has been postponed. Lawyers involved in the case are expected to be informed of the new date tomorrow, but no official reason has been provided for the latest delay.
The court had reserved the verdict on December 18, initially planning to announce it on December 23.
The case, now referred to as the £190 million reference, originated from an inquiry launched by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in March 2023 into the Al-Qadir University Trust. The inquiry transitioned to a formal investigation on April 28.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were indicted on February 27 after a year-long trial during which the NAB recorded statements from 35 witnesses. PTI lawyers cross-examined key witnesses, including former Principal Secretary Azam Khan, former Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, and former Federal Minister Zubaida Jalal.
