ISLAMABAD: Millions of rupees have been gambled on illegal horse races on the streets of the federal capital, while Islamabad police has remained in a deep slumber and failed to take any action.
According to details, millions are gambled on horse races held on the streets in Islamabad. It has been revealed that hefty bribes are allegedly paid the SHOs of Khanna and Koral police station to stop them from taking any action.
The horse race starts from Koral Chowk and ends at Faizabad Interchange. A large number of spectators had gathered after the illegal horse race started at 4AM despite the imposition of Section 144 and instructions to stop all unnecessary public gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The race was organized by Malik Nazakat, a resident of Choorh Chowk in Rawalpindi, on which millions of rupees were gambled. Local residents complained to the police that an illegal horse race was being held in their area but the officers did not take any action.
The horse riders and organizers were given an open filed for the illegal activity. The police did not even come out of the police stations during the horse race let alone take any action.
The horse race was earlier supposed to be held from Jani Toll Plaza to Tarnol but it was leaked to the media at half past midnight and had to be subsequently shifted. The organisers changed the spot to Koral Chowk due to contingency plans where the illegal race was held.
Citizens have complained over the illegal horse race. They said the coronavirus has been spreading in the city and the government has closed down all business activities but still such illegal are ongoing with any action being taken against them.
