KARACHI: Pakistani superstar Mehwish Hayat has urged the nation to pray for the safe return of renowned Pakistani mountaineer Ali Sadpara and his two other companions who reportedly went missing during a K2 expedition.
On a social media website Twitter, the actress shared a photo collage featuring Sadpara and two other mountaineers with him– John Snorri from Iceland and Juan Pablo Mohr from Chile.
“Tonight our thoughts are with the intrepid climbers, Muhammed Ali Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland & MP Mohr from Chile who remains missing on K2,” Mehwish Hayat said. She went on to say, “Let’s all pray for the safe return of these brave men.”

Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland and MP Mohr from Chile have not been contacted since the three began their push for the K2 summit from camp 3 at midnight between Thursday and Friday, according to their team. News of the missing men comes a day after a Bulgarian mountaineer was confirmed to have died on K2.
A search operation has been launched again today to trace Pakistan’s renowned climber Ali Sadpara and his team.
The chief minister of the Gilgit-Baltistan region said that the search operation to safely retrieve Sadpara and his two compatriots was underway while PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari referred to Sadpur as a proud hero of the nation. He said the government must make his safe return back their top priority.
Meanwhile, Iceland Foreign Minister, Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson has appreciated Pakistan’s steps taken for searching missing K2 climbers.
Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson telephoned his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed the issue of three missing climbers, including Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri.
On this occasion, FM Qureshi apprised the Iceland foreign minister about the steps taken by the Pakistani authorities to search and rescue the missing mountaineers. He assured that Pakistan will spare no effort and will extend all possible support in this regard.
The foreign minister of Iceland appreciated the ongoing search and rescue operation for John Snorri and other climbers by Pakistani authorities.
Pakistan Army helicopters embarked on a “search flight” on Saturday but returned to Skardu after they were unable to locate three climbers, including Pakistan’s Muhammad Ali Sadpara.
On Saturday, Special Assistant to PM on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari had said Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa are personally following developments regarding missing K2 mountaineers including Muhammad Ali Sadpara.
In a message posted on his Twitter account, Zulfi Bukhari said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa are concerned and personally following all developments regarding the missing mountaineers.
He further said that high altitude porters and Lama helicopters will restart the search at the crack of dawn. “Prayers needed from everyone for their safe return!”
