ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said India’s Republic Day is being observed as a Black Day today by Kashmiris across the world who are protesting against the usurpation of their as their rights.

In a statement, the foreign minister said that tractors of protesting farmers are being witnessed instead of tankers on this special day of India. He said international human rights organisations and the media are exposing the Indian oppression in the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The foreign minister said the negative policies of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government are also adversely affecting the Indian economy. He said that all the neighboring countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, China, are annoyed over the Indian posture. He said the minorities feel unsafe in India and instead of democracy, black laws are being imposed in the neighbouring country.

“Minorities don’t enjoy due protection in India whereas the attitude of Narendra Modi-led government is also causing troubles for neighboring countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, China, he added.

He said that Kashmir has turned into a flashpoint between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India and it is imperative to have an early and durable resolution of the internationally recognised dispute.

The minister said India has suspended the basic rights of Kashmiris and is committing atrocities against them.  He said Pakistan has shown the world through its actions that Islamabad desires peace and stability in the region.

Qureshi regretted that India did not pay any heed to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s offer to advance peace rather took such steps which further aggravated the situation in the occupied Kashmir. He said the Indian government has failed to suppress the protesting farmers, and now entire India is endorsing their voices.

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over are observing the Indian Republic Day as Black Day to draw the international community’s attention towards unlawful and forcible Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

It also aims to apprise the world of the continued brutalities and custodial killing of innocent Kashmiris and the unabated massive violations of human rights by the Indian occupying forces in the region.
