ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought a report in a case pertaining to a suspicious transaction of Rs 8 billion and extended the former president’s interim bail till 28th January.

Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard Asif Ali Zardari’s bail application in the case. During the hearing, Asif Ali Zardari’s lawyer Farooq H Naik argued that his client was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Karachi and the court had granted him bail on medical grounds in two cases.

He informed the court that both the judgments are of the same day which is on record. On this, Justice Amir Farooq said that we form a medical board and wait for its report, however, he asked what is the disease of the former president? To which Farooq H Naik said that his client was suffering from heart, back pain, and diabetes.

Prosecutors said the court should form a board of doctors from any government hospital. On this, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said that NAB should not object to the board tomorrow.

Farooq H Naik said that the court should make the medical director of NICD heart hospital the head of the board. The court granted Zardari’s request for exemption from attendance for one day and constituted a medical board.
