BEIJING: China has banned 105 mobile apps from the app stores in the country to cleanse its store that may be involved in spreading obscene content.

Among 105 mobile apps, the US app TripAdvisor was also included.  The purpose of banning the applications is to halt the spread of obscene, pornographic, violent, and bloody content.

In this regard, the Cyberspace Administration of China in a statement said, “Since November 5, a special rectification of mobile application information content chaos has been organized.”

In addition, China tightly monitors its cyberspace, and penalties for transgressions are not unusual, regardless of whether the app is run by a domestic or international corporation.

Moreover, Apple had announced to ban a few apps from the App Store if they do not comply with upcoming privacy standards. It’s new ‘App Tracking Transparency’ protocols have already been delayed to give developers more time to address potential privacy issues, but it seems likely that this will not be enough to ensure that all applications are compliant.
