LAHORE: The body of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s mother Begum Shamim Akhtar has arrived in Pakistan from London, where it will be taken to Jati Umrah.
Funeral prayers for the mother of PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif will be offered today at the Sharif Medical City, Raiwind. Both Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz received the body of Begum Shamim Akhtar at the airport.
Begum Shamim Akhtar passed away on 22nd November in London. According to PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, arrangements have been made for the funeral of the late mother of the former prime minister.
Before leaving London, the prayers for her were offered at Regent’s Park Mosque and from there the body was taken to the airport by ambulance for departure to Pakistan.

In London, 30 people were allowed to attend funeral prayers under the Coronavirus Lockdown Act. Nawaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Salman Shahbaz, and Ali Dar, Ali Imran, and other family members attended the funeral prayers.
According to responsible sources of the Sharif family, Begum Shamim Akhtar’s body was flown to Lahore on British Airways Flight A0259.
