ISLAMABAD: The Senate today (Monday) unanimously passed a resolution condemning the latest attempt of republication of sketches of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) in France.
According to the resolution, moved by leader of the House Dr Shahzad Waseem, such condemnable acts supported by the government further accentuate discord, alienation and divide between the followers of different faiths.
“The love for our beloved Prophet Muhammad [S.A.W] is beyond any doubt and it is part of our faith and no Muslim can tolerate such horrendous acts,” it reaffirmed.
The Senate urged the parliaments and the international community to come up with a framework and needs to stop the recurrence of such acts in the future to ensure peaceful co-existence as well as social and interfaith harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-Ul-Haq Qadri has asserted that the resolution reflects the sentiments of all Muslims. “The French President had demonstrated irresponsible and criminal behavior,” he added.
The federal minister further said that Prime Minister Khan and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan have openly criticized the French President. Later, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said, “Islam is a religion of peace and the Muslims respect all the religions.”
Ali Muhammad Khan further said that the entire Muslim Ummah demands to remove the caricatures at the earliest and the French President’s unconditional apology to all the Muslims across the globe.
