Railway police snatch money, torture passenger

KARACHI: Railway police brutally tortured a youth after which he lost his sanity and also snatched over Rs400,000 from him.
Kashif Saliro, who was travelling on a passenger train from Kotri to Karachi, was resident of Mohammad Khan village in Mehran Town area of Korangi. Railway police frisked the youth and found Rs.406,100 from his possession leading to an altercation after which they attacked him.
The police also confiscated his money and mobile phone and left hin at Cantt. railway station. The youth had lost his mental imbalance and the railway police at the station took him home. The youth’s family was shocked to see his condition while his brother and sister fainted.
The family has filed a petition in the District and Session Court South. The court has summoned the SSP South, Station House Officer (SHO) Frere Town, SSP Railway and concerned railway administration on 19th September.
The victim’s heirs Abdul Karim Saliro, Gadda Ali Saliro and others protested over the incident. They urged Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed to return the amount and take action the police officers.
