LONDON: Pakistan’s former captain Mohammad Hafeez has become the second Pakistani to reach 2000 run-mark in the shortest format of the game.

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez achieved this milestone in Pakistan’s second T20 match against England at Old Trafford. He is also the ninth international player to reach 2000 run-mark in the shortest format of the game.

In his 93rd T20I, the 39-year-old player scored 69-run off 36 balls with four sixes and five fours. He was just eight runs short of the milestone figure before the match.

Earlier, former captain Shoaib Malik became the first Pakistani player to score 2000 T20I runs. India’s skipper Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the T20I format.

He has scored 2794 runs in 82 games so far. India vice-captain Rohit Sharma is second in the list with 2773 runs in 108 matches followed by New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, Malik, and Australia’s David Warner.
