Vehicles illegally being awarded to CDA officers

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Development Agency (FDA) has revealed that several vehicles were allegedly given to the finance department of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The annual expenditure worth of million on maintenance has put a heavy burden on the CDA and the national exchequer. These vehicles are a legal possession of the Accounts Officer, however, these vehicles are legally given to field officers.

Vehicles cannot be provided to people who do not legally perform field duty. According to sources, a vehicle with 200 liters of fuel per month is allotted to the officers while these vehicles cost more than Rs 40 million annually in terms of fuel and maintenance.

The maintenance of old vehicles costs more than a million annually while the officers and employees are also given a monthly allowance of Rs. 7,000 which amounts to Rs. 54 lakhs per annum which is causing a loss.

In the CDA’s finance department, other vehicles are being used for domestic use instead of being brought into government affairs, contrary to the law, and they are also being used to bring the children of officers from school to college.
