Promoting Tourism in Kumrat Valley

Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz by Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz
August 22, 2020

Pakistan has been suffering from the war of terrorism and lack of leadership for years. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been the most affected province form the war of terror. Due to poor leadership and corruption the education sector, health sector, infrastructure, economy and every sector suffered.

Pakistan is gifted by nature in the form of natural beauty, mountains, rivers, forests and landscapes. Recently, COVID-19 has adversely affected the tourism industry. To promote tourism in Kumrat valley the government needs to take measures to earn billions of rupees from tourism.

First of all security should be tightened. Security measures play a key role in the promotion of tourism. Due to security issues the foreigners, as well as the domestic tourists, do not visit Kumrat valley. The tourists stopped visiting these sites due to life-threatening dangers, but when there will be peace then everyone will be willing to visit the Kumrat valley, the paradise on earth. For this purpose, the government needs to take strict actions to maintain peace in the Kumrat valley.

Development of infrastructures such as roads, transport and other facilities provided to the tourists play a vital role in the development of tourism. Kumrat valley lacks these facilities to some extent. The road to Kumrat valley is not in good condition. We need to improve the infrastructure and provide the basic facilities to the tourists.

In Kumrat valley, there is no arrangement of cleanliness and garbage collection. The wastage from hotels is towards the clean water of river Panjkora which has a lot of effect on the local environment and population therefore it is the dire duty of everyone to clean Kumrat valley.

The attractions of Kumrat valley are the forests, greenery, rivers and waterfalls in Kumrat valley. The local people of Kumrat valley cut the forests in the winter season. There is a lot of snowfall in Kumrat valley therefore the local people have no other source to warm their families. The local people cut a lot of trees in the winter season.

The forests and greenery have disappeared with time. There are various medicinal plants in Kumrat valley. Proper research has needed to get benefit from them. There are various animals in Kumrat Valley as well. The homes and protection for these animals are the forests. Therefore, cutting forests also affect these animals. Various types of animals are becoming extinct. It will benefit the local people as well as the government if the forests are saved.

The health and education condition of Kumrat valley is terrible. It’s also the right of these people to have good health and education facilities like other Pakistani. Therefore, the government must provide these facilities to local people of Kumrat valley.

In order to facilitate tourism in Kumrat valley, the government needs to train the local people of Kumrat valley because the local people have no command of modern techniques to attract tourists.

We need to attract the people to the natural beauty of Kumrat valley. The government can play a major role in this regard.

The government shall highlight the hidden beauty of Kumrat valley on national TV and on various social media platforms.

Nowadays there are many tour operators in the country. All these shall cooperate and encourage each other in promoting tourism in Kumrat valley. If the federal and provincial government gives proper attention to Kumrat valley, it has a lot of potentials to attract the tourists nationally and internationally.
