ISLAMABAD: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had been successfully handling of coronavirus pandemic was winning of global praises.
Talking to media today, Yasmin Rashid said the deaths reported due to the coronavirus yesterday were the lowest in the last three months.
She said the incumbent government had adopted a strategy of smart lockdown and managed to control the spreading of COVID-19 to a great extent.
With the help of Allah Almighty, the prevailing situation was under control in the country, the minister added.
She underlined the need to follow the guidelines and standard operating procedures issued by the government in our daily activities because the threat of COVID-19 was not over yet.
She said in Punjab, Lahore was the hub of the COVID-19 epidemic while Rawalpindi was on the second number regarding the cases in the province.
Punjab government had issued a notification to the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to ensure proper and effective implementation of guidelines and anyone found violating the SOPs should be penalized, she said.
Yasmin Rashid said despite constraints of resources, the way Pakistan defeated the COVID-19 was appreciable and it had also been acknowledged by the world.
She warned that the coronavirus infections could spike again in the country. Th3e minister informed that the coronavirus trend in other countries had shown that there could be a spike in cases again.
“Countries like Spain, Iran, and the United States had witnessed a resurgence in cases,” she added.
