NEW YORK: Scientists have revealed that tiny particles coming out of the mouth while speaking and can stay in the air for 10 minutes.
According to the latest report, a study was conducted at the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases in the United States, where a man shouted ‘stay healthy’ for 25 seconds in a closed box.
Scientists examined the tiny particles that came out of the mouth as a result of loud-speaking through a laser project, which revealed that even speech or loud speaking can cause the spread of the coronavirus.
The study revealed that the particles survived for 10 to 12 minutes. Considering the amount of virus in the saliva, the scientists estimated that one minute of loud-speaking would expel a thousand virus-infected particles from the mouth, which could remain in a closed environment for up to eight minutes and spread the virus.
Research has also shown that talking in a low voice will reduce the number of infected particles coming out of the mouth.
The researchers said that this confirms that the virus can be transmitted through communication, so the use of a mask should be made mandatory.
