NAB produces Khurshid Shah in court in assets case

ISLAMABAD: PPP stalwart Syed Khursheed Shah was moved to the Islamabad Polyclinic on Thursday night over back pain and stomach issues.

Khursheed Shah was earlier arrested by the National Accountability Bureau’s Rawalpindi team over acquiring assets beyond means. He was taken to the Bureau’s Rawalpindi office and now is in transit to be shifted to Sukkur.

The Parliamentarian was arrested from his residence in Bani Gala. According to the statement, a team consisting of over 40 people arrived at his doorstep to arrest him.

It was after his arrest, he was shifted to the hospital after complaining of back pain, breathing difficulties, diarrhea, blood sugar problems, and high blood pressure. The hospital conducted his blood test.

Shah was barred from meeting other political party leaders. Senator Sherry Rehman lambasted NAB for this and said they weren’t allowed to meet him (Khursheed Shah)  for “even 30 seconds”.

On Thursday morning, the Accountability Court approved the bureau’s request for two-day transit remand to move back Khursheed Shah to Sukkur. He will be taken to Sukkur Friday at 7 pm via PIA’s PK-631.
