LAHORE: Accountability court will hear the case of the Ramzan Sugar Mills filed against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz today.
The Accountability Court Judge Amjad Nazir Chaudhry will conduct the hearing where the court had directed the jail authorities to produce Hamza Shahbaz without any excuse as he had skipped the court hearing twice due to COVID-19 outbreak in the county.
Hamza Shehbaz along with his father Shehbaz Sharif is accused of making a drain in Chiniot which benefitted in the Ramzan Sugar Mill.
A case was filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against both, alleging the former chief minister Punjab misused his authority and constructed a 10-km sludge carrier in district Chiniot to facilitate the factory, owned by his sons.
The NAB alleged that the step inflicted a loss of Rs. 213 million to the national exchequer. The bureau further alleged that the approval of the construction was given on a fake application filed by the former MPA Maulana Rehmatullah, showing the drain as a public project and public funds were misused for the benefit of the Sharif’s family business.
