KARACHI: The shopkeepers across the country were allowed to open their shops on Monday with the permission of the federal and provincial governments.
The shops and small markets had remained closed for about two months due to lockdown restrictions in the wake of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
After easing lockdown across the country from 9th May, vendors in Karachi also opened the shutters of markets. Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced a phased easing of lockdown across the country.
On the other hand, the Punjab government announced a relaxation in the lockdown from 31st May, while Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan said that there would be a complete lockdown on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that the lockdown was decided after consultation with all political parties. “Some things are not to our liking and some are to our liking but the decisions are unanimous,” he asserted.
Murad Ali Shah had directed that the shops would be open from Fajr to 5 pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, everything will be closed except for groceries. All the industrial establishments that are implementing SOPs will remain open.
