PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to extend a ban on the inter-district public transport for six days across the province to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The notification in this regard has been issued by the transport department of the province. The first ban on public transport was imposed on 22nd March initially for one week. The provisional government also announced the closure of all markets, shopping malls, and restaurants and had also imposed a complete ban on inter-district public transport.
There are currently 405 coronavirus cases pf the COVID-19 in the province and 16 people have died so far due to novel coronavirus.
Moreover, Balochistan government also placed a ban on inter-provincial travel due to the coronavirus. Intra-city bus including public transportation, coaches, and coasters have been directed to remain closed. Offices, schools, shopping malls, marriage halls, and tuition are also closed across the province.
The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged to 3,278 after new cases were reported in several areas across the country today. The confirmed cases in Punjab stand at 1493 making it the worst-hit province in the country with 15 deaths followed by Sindh, 881 (15 deaths), Gilgit Baltistan, 210 (3 deaths), Balochistan 192 (1 death), Islamabad 82 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 15 (1 death).
