ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee over the monitoring of the coronavirus pandemic will be held today in the Parliament House.
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar will chair the 25-member parliamentary committee. The meeting will be held at 12:00 pm in the Constitution Room of the Parliament House. The committee during the session will periodically review and monitor the issues related to coronavirus disease and its impact on the economy.
The meeting will be briefed by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on economic and business plans for the revival of the economy.
The committee comprises 12 senators and 13 parliamentary leaders. Moreover, the committee will include federal ministers Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Ch. Tariq Bashir Cheema, MNAs Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ghaus Bux Khan Mehar, Maulana Asad Mehmood, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Nawabzada Shah Zain Bugti, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Muhammad Akthar Mengal and Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Swati, and Special Assistant to the PM on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza are part of the committee as ex-officio members.
