PESHAWAR: The death toll from a gas leak explosion in Alwargi, a locality in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has risen to seven after four more injured victims died while receiving treatment at hospital.
According to sources, the victims belonged to the same family. Those who lost their lives included the head of the household, Baghdad, his wife, his daughters-in-law and four grandchildren. The deaths have plunged the area into mourning, with the loss of seven family members leaving the community devastated.
Three People Died at the Scene
The tragic incident occurred three days ago in Alwargi, in the Banda Daud Shah tehsil of Karak district, when a gas leak triggered a powerful explosion inside a house.
Three people, including a woman, died at the scene, while several others sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Two Injured Victims Remain in Critical Condition
According to local administration and hospital sources, two other people injured in the explosion remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment at a hospital in Peshawar.
Residents and relatives have appealed to the public to pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
