QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to offer special scholarships for talented students seeking to pursue PhD programmes at leading universities abroad, creating a major opportunity for the province’s promising young scholars.
According to media reports, the new programme, being launched under the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund, will enable 10 of the province’s top and most deserving candidates every year to pursue PhD degrees at renowned universities around the world.
Speaking at the formal launch of the scholarship programme, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the initiative as an important step towards securing a brighter future for the province’s youth.
He said efforts had begun to provide Balochistan’s young people with access to some of the world’s leading educational institutions, describing the initiative as a journey that could help transform the future of the province.
Bugti said the PhD scholarships would open new avenues for knowledge, innovation and development in the years ahead. He stressed that terrorism and extremism could be confronted not through weapons but through quality education, awareness and greater opportunities for development.
The chief minister said the future of Balochistan belonged not to those who took up arms in the mountains, but to its young men and women who pursue knowledge and research with books and pens in their hands.
He said the government’s key objective was to help Balochistan’s youth establish a stronger presence on the global research and education landscape.
