JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the alleged Houthi attacks targeting the cities of Mecca and Medina, alongside ongoing hostile operations directed against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In an official statement, the OIC General Secretariat stressed that targeting holy sites and mosques is entirely unacceptable. The organization noted that such reckless attacks provoke fear among innocent civilians and deeply wound the religious sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
The OIC emphasized that assaults on sacred places, mosques, and civilian infrastructure stand in direct violation of Islamic values and international humanitarian laws. The organization called for effective and immediate measures to stop perpetrators from desecrating holy sites and to prevent similar hostile actions in the future.
Expressing absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia, the OIC reaffirmed its unwavering support for all measures undertaken by Riyadh to safeguard its national security, sovereignty, and the sanctity of the holy places.
This statement follows an announcement by the Saudi-led coalition reporting the interception and destruction of a Houthi drone south of Mecca. Meanwhile, Houthi officials have rejected the Saudi claims regarding any targeting of Mecca.
