Cyberattack Risk From Sept 5-7? Pakistan Tightens Security Across Critical Systems

Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued a high-level cybersecurity advisory ahead of Defence Day, warning of possible cyberattacks from September 5 to 7.
Government institutions, critical digital infrastructure operators and cyber response teams have been directed to remain on high alert, monitor systems around the clock and keep technical teams ready for immediate action.
The National Security Operations Centre (NSOC) will serve as the central coordination point during the period, monitoring cyber threats and facilitating the sharing of threat intelligence.
Institutions have also been told to closely monitor websites, networks and online services, strengthen security controls, keep firewalls and DDoS protection active, use multi-factor authentication and immediately report any suspicious activity or security breach.
The advisory further calls for disaster recovery systems, offline backups and alternative internet and power arrangements to be kept ready in case of a major cyber incident.
Authorities said the measures aim to reduce the risk of service disruptions, data breaches and other threats to Pakistan’s critical digital infrastructure during Defence Day.
