A new twist has emerged in the case of an allegedly missing newborn in Karachi’s Nazimabad area after the private hospital denied that the woman was pregnant or that a baby had been born.

According to details, the incident has raised serious concerns after the hospital administration reportedly denied that the baby had been born.

The affected family staged a strong protest at the hospital and formally lodged a complaint with the police.

The family said the woman had undergone regular check-ups, follow-ups, medical tests and ultrasounds at the same private hospital throughout her nine-month pregnancy. She had been given August 27 as the delivery date. However, after the operation was performed on the scheduled date, the doctor allegedly told the family that the baby had not been born.

The family claimed they possess ultrasound reports and complete medical records from the pregnancy, which they say prove the pregnancy and related treatment.

The newborn’s father’s brother said the family immediately approached the police over what they described as an injustice.

Following the complaint, police sought medical assistance from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Further legal action will be taken after receiving the report and response from the Medical-Legal Officer (MLO).

The SHO said police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the private hospital to establish the facts. He added that strict legal action would be taken if the hospital administration is found involved in the alleged disappearance.
